Women's Hockey Defeats Wayne State, 9-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars defeated Wayne State, 9-0, in women's hockey action on Friday, December 10 at PC's Schneider Arena.

Providence took a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play on goals by Danielle Culgin at 4:18, Jennifer Kranz at 14:51 and Beth Wolff at 15:58. Culgin got the Friar offense started with her fourth tally of the season. Kranz notched PC's second goal when she poked in a rebound. Wolff finished off the scoring in the period as she deflected in a shot past Wayne State goaltender Stacey Bowden.

PC increased its lead in the second period with goals by Kim Mathias at 5:29 and Katherine Cahill at 17:40.

In the third period, Kim Mathias and Jackie Tamsin each notched one goal and Jess Tabb scored two goals to seal the win for the Friars.

With the win, Providence raised its record to 8-4-1 overall, while Wayne State fell to 0-11 overall.

Providence College returns to action on Saturday, December 11 against Wayne State at PC's Schneider Arena at 2:00 p.m.
