KELLY WINS 10,000 METER TITLE
IC4A CHAMPIONSHIP
at George Mason University -- Fairfax, Va.

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Sophomore Keith Kelly of Drogheda, Ireland won the 10,000 meters in a time of 29:46.16 at the IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Fairfax, Va. on May 21-24. Kelly, who scored all 10 of the Friars' points and helped the team finish 29th, became the first Friar to capture the IC4A 10,000 meters since Ray Treacy won the event in 1981. With his time of 29:46.16, Kelly qualified for the NCAA Championship on June 3-6 in Buffalo, N.Y.
Juniors Zack Ventress of Spokane, Wash. and Rick Bush of Clifton Park, N.Y. also competed for the Friars. Ventress finished 13th in the 5,000 (14:34.69) and Bush placed 12th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:05.40).
