Harrisburg, VA - The Friars finished third in the James Madison Volleyball Classic in Harrisburg, Virginia over the weekend. The Friars fell to host JMU, 3-0 (5-15, 5-15, 13-15) then to Tennessee 3-0 (7-15, 9-15, 14-16) before defeating Illinois-Chicago, 3-0 (15-7, 15-4, 15-8).
Junior Heidi Fillippi (Wooster, OH) was named to the All-Tournament team as she recorded 33 kills during the weekend which included a 3.67 kill per game tally and a solid .343 attack percent. She also recorded 12 digs and 15 assists.
Super Sophs Sarah Katinger (Stratford, CT) and Annie Cella (Burr Ridge, IL) led the Friars with 55 kills and 37 kills, respectively. Katinger tallied 6.11 kills per game and recorded a 21 kill effort versus Illinois-Chicago. Cella was outstanding on the defense end as well as she collected a team high 42 digs. Senior Colleen Lee recorded 124 assists throughout the three games.
