Women's Soccer Falls to Boston College, 4-0

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. -- The Providence College Friars were defeated by Boston College, 4-0, in BIG EAST Northeast Division women's soccer action on Tuesday, October 12 at Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Eagles were led by freshman forward Sarah Rahko (Londonderry, N.H.) who tallied one goal and two assists in the win.

Rahko scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 6:26 when she converted on a partial breakaway from 15 yards out. Boston College junior midfielder Meghan Moore (Santa Barbara, Calif.) expanded BC's lead to 2-0 when she scored off of a Colleen Danaher ( Rockford, Ill.) pass at the 12:15 mark.

The Eagles added two second-half goals to increase their lead to 4-0. Sophomore forward Carolyn Iacobelli (Scottsdale, Ariz.) netted BC's third goal of the game when she shot a rebound past Friar freshman goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) at 78:25. Junior forward Morgan Page (Westerly, R.I.) took a pass from Rahko at the 15-yard mark and beat Haines to solidify the victory for Boston College at 81:34.

In goal, Haines recorded a BIG EAST career-high 12 saves in the loss. BC's Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, N.Y.) recorded one save while earning her ninth shutout of the season.

With the loss, Providence's record fell to 4-9-0 overall and 0-5-0 in BIG EAST Northeast Division action. BC's record improved to 11-4-0 overall and 5-1-0 in conference play following the victory.

The Friars return to action on Thursday, October 12 when they host Siena in a non-conference matchup at PC's Glay Field at 3:00 p.m.
