Women’s Soccer Set To Visit DePaul In Regular Season Finale

The Friars will visit DePaul on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 p.m. (ET).

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team is set to visit the DePaul University Blue Demons (4-12-1, 1-7-1 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Nov. 1. The match will kick off at 1:00 p.m. (ET) in Chicago, Ill. and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS... The Providence College women's soccer team recently defeated Villanova, 2-1, and Marquette (5-0) last week. The Friars improved to 6-6-3 overall with a 3-4-2 mark in BIG EAST play. This season, the Friars have also earned victories over Army (1-0), Northeastern (2-1), Sacred Heart (1-0) and Seton Hall (2-0). Providence holds a 4-3-2 mark at home and is 1-3-1 on the road.

Redshirt freshmen Lily Gibbs (Dedham, Mass.) leads the Friars' offense with team-highs in points (nine) and goals (four). Redshirt Freshman Amaya Coffie (Warwick, R.I.), freshman Isabella Kloock-Jensen (Aabenraa, Denmark) and  freshman Courtnee Pickles (Methuen, Mass.) rank second on the team in goals, with three each. Thaea Mouratidis (Toronto, Ont.) has added seven points on one goal and a team-best five assists. Nine players have scored goals for the Friars this season, including five multi-goal scorers. Graduate student goalkeeper Ellie Thallman (Northville, Mich.) has anchored the Friars in net, starting in every match. Thallman has registered a .693 save percentage on 52 saves and has recorded four shutout wins. Stephanie Schoeley (Thedford, Ont.) and Ella McBride (Peterborough, Ont.) have led the Friars' defense, logging 1,337 and 1,226 minutes, respectively.

AWARDS… Six Friars have earned BIG EAST Awards this season.
Gibbs has been recognized by the BIG EAST three times this season. The redshirt freshman was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Oct. 27 after she scored a brace in the Friars win at Villanova (2-1) and registered one assist versus Marquette (5-0). Gibbs was previously named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Aug. 18 after she scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute in Friars' win over Army (1-0). She was also recognized on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 6. after sconing one goal in the team's win versus Seton Hall (2-1).
Kloock-Jensen was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 3. She scored the game-winning goal in the 60th minute of the Friars' win over Sacred Heart (1-0). It also marked her first-career goal at Providence.
McBride was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 25 following the Friars win over Northeastern (2-1). The senior anchored the Friars' defense, logging 90 minutes of action and helped limit Northeastern to only two shots on goal. McBride was also named to the Preseason ALL-BIG EAST Team on Aug. 12.
Pickles was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll on Aug. 25 after she was credited with the game-winning goal in the 67th minute in the Friars win at Northeastern (2-1). It also marked her first-career goal with the Friars.
Schoeley was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8 following the Friars win over Sacred heart (1-0). The sophomore led the Friar defense, logging 90 minutes of action and helped limit Sacred Heart to only one shot. Schoeley was recently recognized on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 6. She was credited with the game-winning goal in the 15th minute of the Friars win over Seton Hall (2-0).
Thallman was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Aug. 18 following the Friars win over Army (1-0). The graduate student recorded a clean sheet performance in the teams win.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST DEPAUL... The Friars hold a 8-7-6 all-time advantage against the Blue Demons. In the last meeting between the two teams, Providence tied DePaul, 1-1, on Oct. 31, 2024 in Providence, R.I.

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS... DePaul enters Saturday's match with a 4-12-1 record and a 1-7-1 mark in BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons hold a 2-7-0 record at home this season. DePaul's noteworthy home results include a win over Eastern Michigan (1-0) and losses against No. 23 Xavier (3-0) and Connecticut (1-0).
 
Redshirt Sophomore Tessa Fagerson leads DePaul's offense in scoring with seven points on two goals and a team-high three assists. Sophomore Katelyn Jamie leads the Blue Demons in goals this season with three. Junior Mya Gardner has registered five points on two goals and one assist for DePaul. Junior Mason Hillery and sophomore Maddie Iro have split time in goal for the Blue Demons this season. Hillery has started in 11 games logging 871 minutes in net. She has registered a .674 save percentage with two shutouts. Iro has played nine games with six starts and has logged 658 minutes in net for DePaul. She has recorded a .717 save percentage this season.

BIG EAST TOURNAMENT QUALIFICATION... Providence enters its regular-season finale at DePaul with a chance to clinch a spot in the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament. The Friars (11 points) must earn a win over the Blue Demons to remain in contention for the fourth and final postseason berth. Providence will also need favorable results elsewhere, as Creighton (12 points) must tie or lose against St. John's and Villanova (12 points) must tie or lose against Butler. A Friar victory combined with those outcomes would secure Providence the No. 4 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. Creighton hosts St. John's at 2:00 p.m. (ET) and Villanova faces Butler at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.
 
The 2025 BIG EAST Women's Soccer Championship will be held November 6–9 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md., featuring semifinals on Nov. 6 and the championship match on Nov. 9.
