JAMAICA, N.Y. -- St. John's defeated Providence College, 2-0, in men's BIG EAST soccer action on Sunday, October 22 in Jamaica, N.Y.
Anthony Theorides gave the Red Storm a 1-0 lead when he blasted a shot past Friar junior goalkeeper Danny Glynn at 27:57 of the first half. Shalrie Joseph added an insurance goal for St. John's with 15 seconds remaining in the game.
St. John's senior goalkeeper Jeffrey Stoklosa made two saves in the win. Glynn recorded four stops for PC.
With the victory, St. John's raised its record to 11-3-2 overall and 8-2-1 in BIG EAST action, while Providence fell to 3-11-1 overall and 3-7-1 in league action.
Providence College returns to action on Wednesday, October 25 against Quinnipiac at PC's Glay Field at 2:00 p.m.
