WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY PREVIEW

University of Maine at Providence College Saturday, December 2 - 2:00 p.m.

University of New Hampshire at Providence College Sunday, December 3 - 2:00 p.m.

University of Maine (5-5-5, 2-4-0): The University of Maine Black Bears travel to Providence College for an ECAC tilt on Saturday, December 2 at 2:00 p.m. The Black Bears enter Saturday's game having split a two-game series at Mercyhurst on November 24-25. Maine is led on offense by Jarin Sjogren (Bengough, Sask.) who has tallied six goals and five assists this season. In goal, sophomore Dawn Froats has posted a 4-1-0 record with a 1.71 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.

University of New Hampshire (9-2-0, 6-2-0): The eighth-ranked University of New Hampshire Wildcats begin a weekend roadtrip with games at Northeastern and Providence with a 9-2-0 overall record. UNH improved its ECAC record to 6-2-0 with a weekend sweep of Niagara on November 24-25. The Wildcats are led in scoring by senior forward Michelle Thornton (Gloucester, Ont.) who has 17 points (five goals, 12 assists). Sophomore Jen Huggon (Plymouth, Mass.) has seen every minute of action in goal for UNH this season. Huggon has posted a 9-2-0 record with a 1.64 goals against average and a .939 save percentage.

Providence College Friars (8-2-1, 4-2-1): The Providence College Friars resume home action with games versus Maine (Saturday, December 2) and New Hampshire (Sunday, December 3) at Schneider Arena this weekend. Providence has won its last five games with weekend sweeps of Niagara and Vermont along with a 4-0 shutout of Boston College on Wednesday, November 29. Senior forward Jessica Tabb (Holland, Mass.) is first on the team in scoring with 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) and currently is ranked eighth in the conference with 11 points. Freshman goaltender Amy Quinlan (Baton Rouge, La.) has emerged on the scene for the Friars having posted a 3-1-0 record with a .969 save percentage and 0.75 goals against average. For her efforts, Quinlan was named the ECAC Goaltender of the Week on November 20 after stopping 40 shots in a 3-1 win over Niagara on Saturday, November 18.
