WHO'S HOT: Marc Suderman has tallied at least one point in each of the Friars' last six games.

LIBBY POSTS FIVE-POINT WEEKEND... Senior Matt Libby (Saco, Maine) backboned the Friars' penalty-killing unit that was 16-17 in man-down situations, including a perfect 10-10 in PC's 7-3 win over Merrimack on December 2. Libby also led the Friars offensively, tallying two goals and two assists on December 2. On December 1, Libby assisted on the Friars' lone goal in a 4-1 loss to the Warriors. Libby is currently the Friars' second leading scorer with 16 points (five goals and 11 assists).

FRIARS SPLIT WEEKEND SERIES VERSUS MERRIMACK...The Friars' record stands at 8-3-3 after a 4-1 loss to Merrimack on December 1 at Schneider Arena and a 7-3 win at Merrimack on December 2 at the Volpe Complex. On December 1, the Friars lost their first home contest of the season at Schneider Arena. Senior Jay Leach (Altamont, N.Y.) netted the Friars' lone goal, his third of the season, assisted by junior Marc Suderman (Regina, Saskatchewan) and senior Matt Libby (Saco, Maine). Sophomore Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) recorded 20 saves for PC. On December 2, the Friars recorded their eighth win of the season, 7-3, at Merrimack's Volpe Complex. Five Friars registered multiple-points in the victory. Libby led the Friars with two goals and two assists, senior Adam Lee (Brampton, Ont.) recorded two goals and one assists, while Devin Rask (Parkside, Saskatchewan) added four assists to lead the Friars. Freshmen Regan Kelly (Imperial, Saskatchewan) and Jonathan Goodwin (Taunton, Mass.) each notched their first collegiate goals. Sophomore Jon DiSalvatore (S. Windsor, Conn.) tallied one goal and two assists in the Friars' victory. Boyd Ballard stopped 29 shots in the win.

FRESHMAN FIRSTS...Freshmen Regan Kelly (Imperial, Saskatchewan) and freshman Jonathan Goodwin (Taunton, Mass.) each tallied their first collegiate goals in the Friars' 7-3 win at Merrimack on December 2. Kelly notched his first tally on a one-timer from the slot at the 13:33 mark of the first period. Goodwin scored his first career goal off a rebound in front of the net at 6:27 of the first period.

RASK LEADS OFFENSE... Sophomore Devin Rask (Parkside, Saskatchewan) scored his team leading 18th point in PC's 7-3 win against Merrimack on December 2. The centerman notched four assists in the victory. Rask has registered four multiple-point games this season and eight in his career. This season, Rask has recorded 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 13 games.

LEACH NETS CAREER HIGH... Senior Jay Leach (Altamont, N.Y.) notched his third goal of the season in PC's 4-1 loss to Merrimack on December 1. Entering this season, Leach had tallied just two goals in 102 games for the Friars. The Friars captain has recorded three goals and seven assists in 14 games for the Friars.

FRIARS OUT FOR REVENGE... Last season, UMass-Amherst was the only team in HOCKEY EAST to sweep the season series with the Friars. The Minuteman defeated the Friars, 2-1, at the Mullins Center on January 7. The following night, UMass posted a 3-1 win at Schnieder Arena. On January 26, PC lost 4-3 at the Mullins Center. Three of UMass' five HOCKEY EAST wins last season were against the Friars.

VERSUS UNRANKED Opponents...The Friars have posted a 3-2-1 record versus unranked opppoonents this season. The Friars have defeated Miami on October 20, Union on October 29 and Merrimack on December 2. PC lost to Brown on November 4 and Merrimack on December 1. There only tie versus an unranked oppooonent was at Denver on November 25. However, PC's record against ranked teams is 5-1-2.

Next FOR the FRIARS... The Friars will host UMass-Amherst on Friday, December 8 at 7:00 p.m.

THE PROVIDENCE/UMASS-AMHERST SERIES... Friday's game will be the 26th meeting between the two schools. Providence leads the all-time series 16-8-1. The two teams first met on Feb. 27, 1954 with Providence defeating UMass, 15-5, at the Rhode Island Auditorium. The Friars' last win against the Minutemen was a 3-2 victory on February 26, 1999 at Schneider Arena. PC's last loss to UMass-Amherst was a 4-3 defeat on January 26, 2000 at Schneider Arena.

AT THE MULLINS CENTER... The Friars have recorded a 3-5-1 mark against UMass-Amherst at the Mullins Center. PC's last win against the Minutemen at the Mullins Center was a 5-3 victory on November 21, 1997. The Friars' last loss to UMass at the Mullins Center was a 4-3 defeat on January 26, 2000.

THIS SEASON VS. UMASS-AMHERST... Last season, the Minutemen swept all three games versus PC. On January 7, UMass defeated the Friars, 2-1, at the Mullins Center. PC's lone goal was scored by Shawn Weiman. Nolan Schaefer recorded 33 stops in the loss. The following night, UMass defeated PC, 3-1, at Schneider Arena. Senior Nick Lent scored PC's only goal. Goaltender Boyd Ballard registered 18 saves for the Friars. On January 26, UMass defeated PC, 4-3, at the Mullins Center. Jon DiSalvatore, Drew Omicioli and Peter Fregoe each scored one goal for the Friars. Boyd Ballard and Jamie Vanek combined to record 31 saves in the loss.

AT SCHNEIDER ARENA... The Friars have recorded a 10-3 mark against UMass-Amherst at Schneider Arena. PC's last win against the Minutemen at Schneider Arena was a 3-2 victory on February 26, 1999. The Friars' last loss to UMass at Schneider Arena was a 3-1 defeat on January 8, 2000.
