Women's Hockey Picked Seventh of 13 In Preseason Poll

Providence, R.I. -- The Providence College women's hockey team was picked to finish seventh of 13 schools in the annual ECAC Preseason Coaches Poll released on Monday, September 18 at the ECAC Media Day in Hyannis, Mass. Dartmouth College was picked to finish first with nine first place votes.

Providence returns 13 of 22 players from last year's team, which finished the 1999-00 season in sixth place in the ECAC standings. The Friars concluded the 1999-00 season with a 20-10-3 mark. Five of the team's top six scorers from last season will return, including the team's leading scorer Jessica Tabb (26 goals, 15 assists).

Providence College will open its 2000-01 season with an exhibition game against St. Laurent on Sunday, October 22 at Schneider Arena. The game will start at 2:00 p.m. and admission is free.

The team will begin its regular season schedule at Findlay University, in Findlay, Ohio, on October 28 and 29. The Friars will play their first home game on Saturday, November 4 against Yale at Schneider Arena at 2:00 p.m.
