Boston, Mass. -- The Providence College Volleyball team defeated Northeastern University, 3-1 (16-14, 15-9, 8-15, 15-3) on Tuesday, September 26.
Junior Annie Cella (Burr Ridge, Ill.) recorded a team-high 23 kills and 15 digs for the Friars. Junior Sarah Katinger (Stratford, Conn.) posted 16 kills and 17 digs, while seniors Heidi Filippi (Wooster, Ohio) and Samanthaa Lennon (Montclair, N.J.) added 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Sophomore Susan Fanning (E. Amherst, N.Y.) handled 64 assists for PC.
Providence is now 12-5 overall and returns to action on Saturday, September 30, when they host the University of Pittsburgh in their 2000 BIG EAST season opener. Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Mullaney Gymnasium at Alumni Hall.
