The Providence College women's soccer team played Binghamton to a 2-2 double overtime tie on Tuesday, October 16 at Glay Field.
Junior midfielder Megan Kashner (Wareham, Mass.) scored her first collegiate goal in the 43rd minute to give the Friars a 1-0 lead. Freshman midfielder Kate Kearney (Glastonbury, Conn.) assisted on the goal. The Friars took a 2-0 advantage with eight seconds remaining in the first half as junior midfielder Kyle McAuley (Trumbull, Conn.) blasted a shot into the net off freshman Maura Robertson's (Wellesley, Mass.) corner kick.
The Bearcats began their comeback in the 71st minute when senior back Alyson Cammann (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) fired a 20-yard shot off a direct free kick. Binghamton tied the game in the 75th minute as sophomore forward Tracy Kasmarcik (Binghamton, N.Y.) scored her 10th goal of the year off an assist from junior midfielder Amanda Norman (Middletown, N.Y.).
Both teams played through two scoreless overtime halves with the Friars outshooting the Bearcats 7-5 in the extra sessions. Providence outshot Binghamton, 23-21, overall. PC's sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) made nine saves, while junior Lauren Cherry (Wyncote, Pa.) stopped six shots for the Bearcats.
The Friars return to action on Friday, October 19 as they host Rutgers at 3:00 p.m.
