Women's Soccer Ties With Georgetown, 1-1

Amaya Coffie scored the lone goal for the Friars as they opened up BIG EAST play at home.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College women's soccer team tied with Georgetown, 1-1, on Wednesday, Oct. 7 in Providence R.I. The Friars are now 2-2-8 overall, with a 0-1-2 BIG EAST record. Redshirt sophomore Amaya Coffie (Warwick, R.I.) scored her first goal of the season in her second game back with the Friars.

GAME FLOW & NOTES 
  • Georgetown struck first in the 17th minute (16:08) to go up ,1-0, in the first half. The ball was punched out and Jocelyn Lohmeyer collected the loose ball and fired it bottom left to score.
  • In the 31st minute (30:10) Leila Anazagasty-Pursoo (Bayshore, N.Y.) had a one-on-one breakaway that went far right.
  • Georgetown outshot Providence 11-6 in the first half. 
  • The Hoyas held 52-percent of the possession in the first half, and the Friars checked in at 48-percent.
  • Providence answered in the 64th minute (63:41) as Amaya Coffie (Warwick, R.I.) scored her first goal of the season to tie the match, 1-1. Coffie made a slide tackle to gain control of the ball and dumped it off to Carolyn Hinkle (Millersville, Pa.). Hinkle then crossed the ball through the box back to Coffie for a deflection. 
  • It marked Coffie's first goal of the season in her second game back.
  • Both teams went scoreless during the final 26 minutes of regulation.
  • Both the Hoyas and the Friars finished with 18 shots.
  • The Friars have recorded the second most ties in NCAA Division I this season.
