PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers University defeated Providence College, 2-0, in men's BIG EAST soccer action at Piscataway, N.J., on Sunday, October 28.
Rutgers senior forward Dennis Ludwig (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) scored the first goal of the game when he chipped in a shot from 16 yards out that beat PC junior goalkeeper Michael Greulich (Cincinnati, Ohio) at the 12:48 mark. Sophomore Scott Conway (Aston, Pa.) added an insurance goal for the Scarlet Knights at 87:22.
Rutgers junior goalkeeper JD Martin (Penfield, N.Y.) made one save in the shutout. Greulich recorded nine stops in the loss.
With the win, Rutgers improved to 11-3-3 overall and 5-1-1 in BIG EAST action, while Providence fell to 0-12-2 overall and 0-8-0 in league play.
Providence College returns to action on Wednesday, October 31 against Connecticut at PC's Glay Field at 2:00 p.m.
