SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by Syracuse University, 2-0, on Friday September 28 at Syracuse's Lampe Athletics Complex, in BIG EAST Conference action.
Freshman forward Natalie Galas (Sterling Heights, Mich.) broke a 0-0 tie in the 72nd minute as she notched the game-winning goal. Senior midfielder Candy Reich (Pembroke, Mass.) tacked on another goal in the 79th minute to lift the Orangewomen.
Providence freshman midfielder Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.) led the Friars with three shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) made eight saves, while Syracuse's Shannon Myers (Lancaster, Pa.) stopped three shots.
With the loss, the Friars fell to 4-2-1, 0-1-1, while the Orangewomen improved to 5-2-0, 1-1-0.
The Friars are back in action on Sunday, September 30 as they travel to the University of Connecticut for a 1:00 p.m. game.
