PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Brown University defeated Providence College, 2-0, in men's soccer action on Tuesday, October 15 in at Brown's Stevenson Field in Providence, R.I.
Brown senior Eduardo Romaneiro led the Bears as he scored the team's two goals. Romaneiro notched what would prove to be the game winner at 7:29 when he blasted a hard shot into the left corner of the net. He sealed the win for the bears with an insurance goal with 2:12 remaining in the game.
The Friars pressured Brown goalkeeper Chris Gomez all game, as they outshot the Bears, 16-12. Gomez finished the game with nine saves. Friar sophomore goalkeeper Jeff Newman (Northboro, Mass.) made seven stops in the loss.
With the win, Brown improved to 4-3-3 overall, while Providence fell to 4-9 overall.
Providence College returns to action on Sunday, October 20 at Seton Hall at 1:00 p.m. in South Orange, N.J.
