The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by Brown, 3-1, on Wednesday, October 1 in Providence, R.I.
The Bears scored first in the 37th minute on a header from Michaela Sewall. Junior Shannon McMorrow (Boca Raton, Fla.) scored the lone goal for the Friars in the 64th minute as she collected a rebound off the goalkeeper and put it in the back of the net. Brown scored twice in the second half and held on for the victory. Senior goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) made four saves as the Friars were outshot, 18-11.
With the loss, the Friars fall to 5-4-2 on the season, while Brown improves to 5-2-2. Providence returns to action on Friday, October 10 as they travel to New York to take on St. John's University in a BIG EAST Northeast Division game at 7:30 p.m.
