Syracuse (8-6-2, 2-5-1 BIG EAST): The Orange of Syracuse defeated Georgetown 2-0 on Sunday, October 17 to start their four-game conference road-trip. Senior Shana Thomas led the team to victory scoring two unassisted goals, one in each half. Syracuse pulled out the victory despite being outshot 19-6. The shutout victory over the Hoyas marked Syracuse's sixth shutout win of the season. Thomas leads the team with 10 points on five goals, while senior Helen Fox and sophomore Molly McManus follows with eight points apiece (3 goals, 2 assists). Senior goalkeeper Shannon Myers leads the team with 78 saves and has posted a .830 save percentage, third in the BIG EAST.

Providence College (4-11, 1-7 BIG EAST): The Providence College women's soccer team hosts the the Orange of Syracuse on Friday, October 22, at 3:00 p.m. at Glay Field in Providence, R.I. In their last meeting, the Friars were shutout 1-0 in double overtime on October 12, 2003. Providence's only victory over the Orange came in the 2002 season when the Friars shutout Syracuse 2-0 at PC's Glay Field. Syracuse holds a 6-1-1 all-time record over Providence. The Friars are coming off a two-game losing skid after capturing their first BIG EAST victory over Seton Hall, 3-1 on October 8. Seniors BriAnne Bruni (Bristol, Conn.) and Veronica Bakke (Alesund, Norway) continue to lead the Friars offense with 15 and 11 points respectively. Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Fedyshyn (Lincroft, N.J.) leads the Friars with 61 total saves and is ranked second in conference play with 51. Fedyshyn leads the BIG EAST averaging 7.14 saves, and fifth in the conference in save percentage (.794).
