CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Providence College men's soccer team was defeated at Harvard University by a score of 3-0 this afternoon at Ohrir Field. Senior goalkeeper Jeff Newman (Northboro, Mass.) made four saves in net for the Friars.
Harvard scored a pair of goals in the first half as Anthony Tornaritis knocked home an unassisted tally 5:51 into the match. Less than a minute later, his brother Nicholas Tornaritis scored his seventh goal of the season to make it 2-0, Crimson.
Jeffery Chivers would add a third goal early in the second half to round out the scoring.
Providence drew more corner kicks than Harvard (5-4), but allowed more shots on goal (8-6) in suffering the loss. The win was the fifth straight for the Crimson.
Providence men's soccer returns to action Sunday, Oct. 31 as it travels to Pittsburgh for a 1:00 p.m. contest against the Panthers.
