Women's Basketball Falls To Gonzaga, 85-38

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Providence College women's basketball team was defeated by Gonzaga, 85-38, in the first game of the Airport University Inn Thanksgiving Classic on Friday, November 26 in Albuquerque, N.M. With the loss, the Friars fall to 0-3 overall on the season, while Gonzaga improves to 2-0.
Providence was led by sophomore Shauna Snyder (Albuquerque, N.M.) who registered a career-high 15 points and nine rebounds. Snyders' 15 points and nine rebounds also marked game highs. Freshman Kristen Brown (River Vale, N.J.) recorded six points and five rebounds. Sophomore Kristina Baugh (Boston, Mass.) added five points and a career-high five rebounds in the effort.
Gonzaga held a 41-14 lead at halftime and outscored the Friars, 44-24 in the second half. The Bulldogs scored 37 of their 85 points off of 24 Friar turnovers.
Twelve Gonzaga players cracked the scoring column, led by four players who reached double. Ashley Anderson, Anne Bailey and Raenna Jewell each netted 11 points, while Ashely Burke tallied 10 points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
Providence College (0-3) will face New Mexico or Missouri in the consolation game of the Airport University Inn Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday, November 27.
