PROVIDENCE, R.I. (November 6, 2004) -- The Providence College women's hockey team tied the final score at 3-3, with Clarkson on November 6 at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I.
Karen Thatcher (Douglas, Mass.) wasted little time in the first period as she tallied two goals including the first at 0:24. Seniors Emily Gryp (Lexington, Mass.) and Rush Zimmerman (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) earned assists on the first and second goal, while sophomore Kristin Gigliotti (Sauquoit, N.Y.) posted two assists on the first two goals.
The Golden Knights avenged their two point deficit late in the second period. Freshman Katie Morrison scored at the 4:33 mark, while classmate Brooke Beazer netted a goal at 6:22. Both goals were assisted by sophomore Emma Madigan. Freshman Kelli Doolin (Dorchester, Mass.) ended the second period, 3-2, as she scored her first collegiate goal assisted by Gryp and Gigliotti.
Sophomore Jill Nolan recorded her sixth goal and first game-tying goal of the season at 13:24 assisted by Amanda Dittmer. The game ended in a tie after a scoreless overtime.
Gigliotti had a game-high three assists, while Gryp added two of her own. The Friars held the shot advantage, 27-26, and went 2-for-11 while Clarkson went 1-for-10 on the power play.
Sophomore Stephanie Hansen grabbed 20 saves, while classmate Kira McDonald came in and added four saves in 17:11. Senior Amy Thomas finished the game with 23 saves in 65 minutes of play.
Providence returns home on Sunday, November 7 to play #6 ranked St. Lawrence in non-conference action at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. at 2:00
