Box Score

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Providence College men's soccer team recorded a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Louisville in the Friars' BIG EAST opener at Louisville on Friday, September 16. For the Friars, it marked their third tie of the season in just five games as PC's record moved to 2-0-3 overall.

In the first meeting all-time between the two squads, neither team was able to score in the first half. Friar freshman Tim Ritter (Weston, Mass.) broke the 0-0 tie when he scored his second goal of the season in the 68th minute. Ritter kicked in a cross from sophomore Ryan Maduro (Bristol, R.I.).

The Friar defense kept Louisville from scoring until the final minute of the game when Anthony Celebre scored off a corner kick by David Guzman with 52 seconds remaining in the game.

Neither team generated much offense in the first overtime, but Louisville pressured the Friars in the second overtime as PC goalkeeper Chris Konopka (Toms River, N.J.) was forced to make four of his eight saves in the final 10 minutes.

Providence will return to action on Sunday, September 18 at Cincinnati at 1:00 p.m.
