PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams are ranked nationally in the latest USTFCCCA Division I National Poll. The men moved up three spots into 27th place, while the women moved up four spots from 20th to 16th in the nation. The poll was released on Tuesday, September 26 by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.
The men's team earned 74 points in the national poll. The top-five teams in the men's poll are Wisconsin (450 points), Arkansas (432 points), Colorado (412 points), Stanford (401 points) and Iona (382 points). The Providence men's cross country team holds a No. 2 ranking in the Northeast Region, which is one spot better than its No. 3 ranking in the preseason.
The Providence women's team earned 190 points in the national poll. The top-five women's teams in the national rankings are Stanford (390 points), Colorado (369 points), Michigan (366 points), Okalahoma State (343 points) and Duke (328 points). The Providence women's cross country team holds a No. 1 ranking in the Northeast Region, after beginning the season No. 2.
