PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The Providence College volleyball team participated in the UMES Comfort Inn Classic on Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30 at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The Friars went 1-3 and defeated Howard, 3-2 to pick up their seventh win of the season matching their highest win total in the past five years.
Sophomore Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Friar attack registering double-figure kills in three of the four matches. Toney led three Friars in double-figure kills with a career and game-high 24 in the 3-2 victory over Howard. Sophomore Aida Cadres (Los Angelos, Calif.) and junior Sarah Fleming (Saint Paul, Minn.) each tallied 16 kills in the win.
Toney, who was named to her fourth All-Tournament team, compiled a team-high 52 kills over the four matches, while Cadres was close behind with 43.
Providence College returns to action on Tuesday, October 3 when they will visit Brown with a scheduled start time of 7:00 p.m. The Friars return home on Wedneday, October 4 when they will host URI at 6:00 p.m.
