Sara Sheehan Named Player Of The Week

Providence College volleyball junior setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) was named Division I Independent Volleyball Player of the Week in a release that came out on Tuesday, October 30. Last week Sheehan recorded 157 assists, 38 digs and 13 kills in three matches.

In all three matches, Sara recorded a double-double with assists and digs. Sara now has five double-doubles on the season. In the first match against NJIT she registered 45 assists and 15 digs and three aces. In a 3-1 victory over Sacred Heart, Sara tallied 53 assists and 12 digs. She finished her tremendous weekend with a season-high 59 assists, 11 digs and six kills in a 3-1 win over Howard. As of Monday, October 29, Sheehan was ranked 47th in the country averaging .53 service aces per game. This mark is good for second in the Independent league. She is now averaging 11.01 assists per game which ranks her third among Independent setters.

The Friars travel to Hartford, Conn. for a match against the Hawks of Hartford University on Wednesday, October, 31 at 6:00 p.m.
