Orem, Utah - The Providence College volleyball team wrapped up its 2007 season with a 3-0 victory over the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday, November 17 in Orem, Utah. Providence swept the match with scores of 30-28, 30-26, and 30-15. The Friars finish with a record of 19-12. The 19 wins mark the highest total since 1997 when the team had 21 wins.
Senior Sarah Fleming (Saint Paul, Minn.) led all players with a match-high 18 kills to go along with 10 digs for her 10th double-double of the season. She also was named to the All-Tournament team. Junior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.) continued her efficient hitting with 14 kills out of 26 attacks for a .462 hitting percentage. Junior setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) tallied a match-high 41 assists to go along with four service aces.
Head Coach Margot Royer: "The team stepped up their defense big time tonight and had a solid 65 digs. Fleming and Flynn continued attacking the ball and both swung well. Kasey played great defense in her last match as a Friar. We had eight aces tonight which helped us greatly in earning the victory. This is a great way to end our season."
