CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - The Providence College women's basketball team defeated Harvard, 78-64, in non-conference action on December 5 at Lavietes Pavilion in Cambridge, Mass. Sophomore Brittany Dorsey (Detroit, Mich.) poured in a career-high 22 points for PC on seven-of-15 shooting, including a six-of-10 outside of the three-point arc. She added three rebounds, three assists and one steal. Dorsey was one of four players in double figures for the Friars on the night.

Providence took a 37-30 lead into the halftime, after knocking down 13-of-29 (44.8-percent) shots from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, including a six-of-12 performance from beyond the three-point arc. Dorsey led the way for the Friars in the half with 11 points, hitting four-of-seven shots from the floor, including three-of-five from three-point territory. The Crimson connected on 43.3-percent of their attempts from the floor (13-30), but struggled mightily from the foul line (2-8) and the three-point line (2-8). Harvard managed to keep things close in the first half with a 20-16 advantage on the boards. Eight of the Crimson's 20 boards came off the offensive glass.

In the second half, Providence hit 16-of-28 (57.1-percent) shots from the floor (3-6 from three) to outscore Harvard 41-34. As the Friars got hot in the second half, the Crimson got cold. Harvard made just nine-of-24 attempts from the floor (37.5-percent). Four of Harvard's nine field goals, however, were from three-point territory as it connected on four-of-six attempts from deep. Harvard also capitalized at the foul line in the final 20 minutes making 12-of-14 attempts (14-22 for the game).

The Friars were not only impressive from the field in the second half, but also improved their status on the boards. After being out-rebounded by four in the opening 20 minutes, Providence owned a 21-8 advantage on the boards in the second half and finished the game with a 37-28 edge. PC is 3-0 this season when it out-rebounds its opponent. Each of the three wins have been decided by double figures.

Joining Dorsey in double figures for Providence were freshman Mi-Khida Hankins (Baltimore, Md.), sophomore Kendria Holmes (Charlotte, N.C.) and junior Shantee Darrian (Trenton, N.J.). Hankins notched a career-best 16 points, while Holmes and Darrian finished with 12 points and 11 points, respectively. Darrian pulled down a game-high eight rebounds. Holmes and freshman Trinity Hull (Cranston, R.I.) each dished a game-best four assists.

The Friars will return to action on Saturday, December 8 against Central Connecticut State University at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
