Providence College volleyball junior middle-blocker, Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.), was named Division I Independent Volleyball Co-Player of the Week in a release that came out on Tuesday, September 25. Last week Flynn recorded 43 kills, a hitting percentage of .323 and 13 total blocks in three matches.
Flynn averaged 3.91 kills per game and 1.18 blocks per game in three matches last week. Elizabeth started the week off with an 11 kill five block performance against Maryland-Eastern Shore. In the 3-0 sweep over Saint Francis, Flynn recorded a match-high 20 kills (.417 hitting percentage) and three total blocks. She finished out the week with another double-figure kill performance with 12 and five blocks against Sacred Heart.
Elizabeth is currently leading the Friars and all Independent players with 200 kills and a hitting percentage of .380. As a team, Providence is leading all Independent teams in hitting percentage (.233) and opponent hitting percentage (.160).
The Friars travel to Winston Salem on Thursday, September 27 and then will participate in the North Carolina Central Tournament on Friday and Saturday, September 29-29 with matches against North Carolina A&T, Savannah State and the host school North Carolina Central.
