The Providence College women's swimming & diving team (1-5) hosted the University of Vermont at home in Providence, R.I. for their final home meet of the season on Saturday, January 26. Despite a strong showing, the Friars fell to the Catamounts, 145-88.
Highlighting the Senior Day meet was a record-setting performance by freshman Courtney Larcom (Morristown, N.J.). Larcom set the Providence College record in the 1500-meter freestyle. Larcom finished in second place with a time of 18:22.25.
Also standing out for the Friars was sophomore Carrie Lamb (New Paltz, N.Y.). Lamb took first place in the 100-meter freestyle (1:02.42), and finished second in both the 50-meter freestyle (29.12) and the 200-meter freestyle relay (1:57.08) along with freshman Alexis Fatigati (New Milford, N.J.) and sophomores Patricia Osmolak (Harmony, Ill.) and Courtney Larcom.
The Friars will travel on Saturday, February 2 to Worcester, Mass. where they will take on Holy Cross. The meet is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start.
