STORRS, CONN. - The Providence College Women's Track team competed in the University of Connecticut Invitational this past Saturday, April 5th in Storrs, Connecticut. The Friars finished in fifth place out of the eight schools that participated.
The Friars took first in three different events and had eight top-five finished on the day. Sophomore Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine) won the 1500m in a Big East Qualifying time of 4:37.25. Junior Katie DiCamillo (Garden City, N.J.) placed first in the 5000m with a Regional Qualifying time of 16:43.61. Providence had three runners in the top five of the 5000m, as junior Sarah Morgan (Waikato, New Zealand) and freshman Emma Perron (West Hartford, Conn.) placed second and fifth with times of 17:24.22 and 18:23.24, respectively.
Freshman Katherine Leugers (Richmond, Vt.) won the 3000m Steeplechase in a time of 11:26.31. Two Friars recorded top-five finished in the 800m as Katie Elliot and Katherine Schock finished second and fifth with times of 2:15.37 and 2:17.22, respectively.
The Providence College Women's Track team returns to action on Wednesday, April 9th when they compete in the Quinnipiac Invitational in Hamden, Conn. The meet is scheduled to go all day.
