PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's soccer team and Yale University played to a 1-1 double overtime tie Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match at Glay Field.

Providence (5-5-2) scored early in the first half to take a 1-0 lead as junior Matt Marcin (Wilmington, Del.) connected on his second of the season. Classmate Andrew Sousa (Fall River, Mass.) took a pass at the top right corner of the 18-yard box and drove a cross to Marcin who headed the ball into the right corner of the net just 3:26 into the match.

In the second half, the Friars had a chance to take a 2-0 lead when Marcin played a pass to sophomore Daniel Fabian (Southbury, Conn.), but Fabian's shot from five yards out was turned aside by Yale goalkeeper Travis Chulick in the 70th minute. However, Yale (3-5-3) scored the equalizer with 3:32 left in the second half as Brad Rose fired a shot from 22-yards out that took a deflection and into the left corner of the net. Moments later, Rose nearly scored again when his header from 10-yards out glanced high off the left post and out with 1:26 left.

The Friars are back in action on Saturday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. when they host Seton Hall in a non-conference match at Glay Field.
