PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team hosts Dartmouth College on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m. in Mullaney Gymnasium at Alumni Hall. The Friars enter the match with a 4-8 record while Dartmouth stands at 2-4.
Providence is coming off a 1-3 performance at the Lafayette/Lehigh Crosstown Tournament over the weekend. On Friday, September 11, PC defeated Rider, 3-1, and lost to Lehigh, 3-2, in Bethlehem, Pa. On Saturday, September 12, Providence fell to Lafayette, 3-2, and Niagara, 3-0, in Easton, Pa.
Sophomore middle blocker Lauren Fletcher played a solid all-around tournament for the Friars. Against Lehigh, she tied a career-high with 19 kills and added four total blocks. In PC's matchup with Lafayette, she notched a team-high 18 kills while hitting at a .366 mark and added a match-high three solo blocks. On the season, Fletcher ranks first on the Friars with 131 kills and 44 total blocks.
Scouting the Competition
Dartmouth (2-4) The Big Green is coming off a 3-2 loss at N.C. State in the Raleigh Crabtree Valley Marriott Classic on Saturday, Sept. 12. Dartmouth is led by sophomore outside hitter Madeline Baird. Baird ranks first on the team with 83 kills and is second on the squad with 66 digs. Sophomore setter Kendall Houston has recorded 135 assists to set up the Big Green offense.
What's Next? Over the weekend, the Friars will compete in the South Carolina State Spikefest in Orangeburg, S.C. On Friday, September 18, Providence will face Hampton at 11:00 a.m. and Wofford at 3:00 p.m. On Saturday, September 19, the Friars will battle UNC-Asheville at 9:00 a.m. and Winston-Salem State at 3:00 p.m.
