VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Providence College men's soccer team was defeated by Villanova, 1-0, on Sunday, September 20 in Villanova, Pa. With the loss, the Friars moved to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the BIG EAST. The Wildcats improved to 4-2-1 overall and 1-1 in league play.
The Wildcats scored the only goal of the match in the fourth minute off a corner kick. Kyle Soroka's shot from 22-yards out found the back of the net to give his team the early lead. The Friars attempted 12 shots, including nine in the second half, but were not able to score the equalizer as Villanova goalkeeper Chris Bresnahan stopped all of PC's four shots on goals. Timothy Murray (Haverhill, Mass.) made five saves for the Friars.
The Friars are back in action on Friday, September 25 at 3:00 p.m. when they host Syracuse at PC's Glay Field.
