Providence took the early 1-0 lead in the 15th minute when senior Andrew Sousa (Fall River, Mass.) scored his first goal of the season. Junior Giuseppe Guerriero (Essex, Mass.) played a one-touch pass with the outside of his right foot to Sousa who put a few touches on the ball before curling a shot into the lower right corner of the net.
The Friars finished the match with an 18-9 advantage in shots. PC's Jhojan Obando (Kissimmee, Fla.) had with four saves, while Pitt's Hami Kara stopped three shots.
