The Providence College men's hockey squad was named Hockey East Team of the Week on Monday, November 15. It marks the second time in three weeks that the Friars have earned the honor. The Friars swept two games at Alabama-Huntsville to increase their unbeaten streak to six games (4-0-2), the longest such streak for PC since the 2005-06 season.
On Friday, November 12, the Friars defeated Chargers, 3-1, in Huntsville, Alabama. Senior Kyle MacKinnon (Walnut, Calif.) notched his second-career hat trick to lead the way. Classmates Ian O'Connor (Londonderry, N.H.) finished with a career-high three assists, while Ben Farrer (Calgary, Alberta) posted a career-best two assists. In goal, junior Justin Gates (Cranston, R.I.) made 23 saves in his first start of the season.
The following night, senior Matt Germain (Rockland, Mass.) was a factor in every goal as he tallied four points (one goal, three assists) to lead the Friars to a 4-2 victory over the Chargers. Senior Eric Baier (North Kingstown, R.I.), sophomore Tim Schaller (Merrimack, N.H.) and junior Matt Bergland (Faribault, Minn.) also scored for the Friars. Junior goaltender Alex Beaudry (Cumberland, Ontario) made 24 stops.
The Friars are back in action on Friday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. when they host Northeastern at Schneider Arena.
