Providence College Women's Soccer To Host Marist

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team will host the Marist Red Foxes on Friday, September 9 at 4:00 p.m. at its own Glay Field.

The Friars enter their match with the Red Foxes coming off a lose to Brown, 2-0. Providence outshot the Bears, 12-10 but was unable to capitalize to score. Six Friars, including seniors Courtney Collins (North Wales, Pa.), Emily Castle (Stonington, Conn.) and Laura Di Clemente (Blue Bell, Pa.), sophomores Jacquelyn Desrosiers (Cranston, R.I.) and Melina Toman (Albuquerque, N.M.) and freshman Kendra McMullen (Londonderry, Northern Ireland) combined for the Friars' 12 goal attempts.

Due to a strong defensive effort by the Friars, Brown was unable to notch a goal until the 77th minute of play. Without wasting any time, the Bears scored their second goal in the 78th minute. Senior goalkeeper Caitlin Walker (Metuchen, N.J.) had four saves for Providence.

MARIST (1-2): The Marist women's soccer team enters its match-up with Providence coming off a 2-1 win against CCSU at the Yale Soccer Classic on Sunday, September 4. Rycke Guiney and Amanda Epstein both scored for the Red Foxes. Prior to their game against CCSU, the Red Foxes lost to Yale, 2-0, and Wagner, 1-0. Courey Schaetzle started in goal for Marist against Wagner and Yale and now has two goals against her and three saves. Andrea Wicks started the Red Foxes matchup with CCSU in goal and now has one goal against her and no saves. Caitlin Landsman also played in net in the team's game against Yale.
