Volleyball Hosts Back-To-Back Matchups On Friday and Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team (11-15, 3-5 America East) will host UMass-Lowell (0-20, 0-7 America East) on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7:00 p.m. and New Hampshire (12-12, 6-2 America East) on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2:00 p.m. UNH is currently tied with Stony Brook for first place in the conference. Friday's match (7:00 p.m.) will be aired on CBS All-Access.

Five Friars rank in the top-10 in the America East statistical categories. Freshman Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) ranks first in digs per set (4.71). Cruz also ranks second in service aces (.44) with teammate, freshman Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) in ranking seventh (.30). Sophomore Lindsay Witt (Basking Ridge, N.J.) ranks second in blocks per set (.95) and fourth in hitting percentage (.272). Sophomore Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) ranks third with 9.73 assists per set. Junior Mackenzie Ziegler (Portage, Wis.) ranks fifth in kills per set (2.76) and Fitzgerald ranks seventh (2.62). Nationally, Cruz ranks 21st with .44 service aces per set.

SCOUTING UMASS-LOWELL: Ella Merrill leads the team in kills per set with 1.87. Kamiren Humphrey leads in assists per set with 4.36 and Carolyn Eddy has recorded 3.57 digs per set. The Friars defeated the River Hawks, 3-1, on Oct. 13.

SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: Morgan Thatcher has the team lead in kills with 2.88 per set. Taylor Dunklau has dished out 9.25 assists per set while Madison Lightfoot has a team-best 4.28 digs per set. Destiny Tolliver ranks first in the America East in blocks with 1.02 per set. In the last meeting between the teams, UNH was victorious in a 3-0 match.
