Volleyball Blanks Albany, 3-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's volleyball team blanked Albany, 3-0 on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Alumni Hall. The Friars won in straight sets, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-19, WIth the victory Providence improves to 9-10 (2-1 America East) and Albany moves to 2-13 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Freshman Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) led the Friar attack with 18 kills and a .417 hitting percentage. Junior Mackenzie Ziegler (Portage, Wis.) and junior Colleen McCollom (Indian Head Park, Ill.) each tallied seven kills in the match.

Sophomore setter Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) finished the match with 39 assists, two kills and seven digs.

Freshman libero Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) notched a team-high 21 digs to propel the Friars to victory.

Providence returns to action on Friday Oct. 11 when the Friars will travel to Durham, N.H. to face the New Hampshire Wildcats. The match is slated for 7:00 p,m,
