Oct. 5, 2014 Final Stats PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by Georgetown, 1-0, on Oct. 5 in Washington, D.C. The Friars move to 5-6-2 (BIG EAST 1-3-0) on the season, while Georgetown advances to 8-2-3 (BIG EAST 3-0-1).

At the end of the first half, the game was scoreless. In net, sophomore Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) recorded three saves for the Friars.

The Friars were able to hold off the Hoyas until the 88th minute when Audra Ayotte scored off a free kick. Georgetown would get the win, 1-0. Georgetown goalkeeper Emma Newins posted the shutout.

"I'm not disappointed with the performance, but the team understands we can't accept the result and need to make important plays during certain moments to change the outcome of the game," said Head Coach Sam Lopes. "The team played with tons of purpose, motivation and had an incredible fighting spirit. They left it all out there against a very talented attacking team. So far, for that I am very proud of them."

The Friars will return to action to host Butler at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Ray Treacy Track.
