On the women's side, both relay events earned first place. Senior Kelly O'Neill (Rye, N.Y.), senior Leia Federiconi (Williamsville, N.Y.), freshman Hayley McClure (West Hartford, Conn.), and freshman Katherine Fallon (Warren, N.J.) took first in the 400y medley relay (4:06.06). In the 400y freestyle relay, junior Reilly O'Connell (West Barnstable, Mass.), sophomore Mary McKenna (Wethersfield, Conn.), freshman Abigail Belisle Haley (Yarmouth, Maine), and O'Neill found victory with a time of 3:42.02. Federiconi earned first-place in two individual events, the 100y breaststroke (1:07.25) and the 200y breaststroke (2:30.42). Fallon took first in the 200y freestyle (1:57.75), while O'Neill earned first in the 100y backstroke (1:03.44). Belisle Haley won the 50y freestyle (24.98) and O'Connell touched first in the 400y backstroke (2:11.16). Out of the 16 women's events, the Friars took eight first places.
For the men, senior John Fatigati (Mahwah, N.J.) finished first in all of his individual events. Fatigati won the 100y backstroke (53.55), the 200y backstroke (1:56.88), and the 200y IM (1:58.64). Sophomore Zachary Begnaud (Natchitoches, La.) took first in the 1000y freestyle (10:06.62) and second place in the 500y freestyle (4:54.74). Freshman Connor Fabian (LaGrange Park, Ill.) touched the wall first in the 200y breaststroke (2:15.11).
The men's and women's swimming and diving team will compete next in the two-day Harold Anderson Invitational, Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22 in Kingston, R.I. Friday is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. while Saturday is slated for a 10:00 a.m. start.
