The Golden Eagles won the first set 25-16. The stanza saw six ties and four lead changes.
Marquette took the second set 25-16 to take a 2-0 match lead. Johnson tallied four kills in the set. Junior Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) had nine assists and eight digs.
The Golden Eagles captured the match via a 25-18 third-set win.
Overall, Wiesler finished with 26 assists while sophomore Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) had a team-best 17 digs.
Marquette was led by Autumn Bailey who registered 15 kills. Gabby Benda had 29 assists while Lauren Houg and Bailey tied for a match-high 20 digs.
The Friars next return to Alumni Hall for its final weekend of home competition for the 2014 season. On Friday, Nov. 14 Providence will host Creighton at 7:00 p.m. The Friars will be having Senior Day at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 against Georgetown. The Senior Day ceremony will begin prior to the start of the match.
