Women's Soccer Kicks Off BIG EAST Conference Play

The Providence College women's soccer team kicks off its BIG EAST Conference play against Seton Hall University. The Friars will host the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Ray Treacy Track. The Friars will then travel to DePaul to play the Blue Devils at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28 at Wish Field in Chicago, Ill.

The Friars are 4-3-2 on the season after last week's back-to-back wins versus Marist (1-0) on Wednesday, Sept. 17 and Fordham (3-1) on Friday, Sept 19.

Junior Catherine Zimmerman (Madison, N.J.) recorded an assist on a goal from sophomore Rachel Ugolik (Hamden, Conn.) against Marist. Zimmerman also recorded a goal versus Fordham for her fourth goal on the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) has started all nine games recording 35 saves and a 0.84 goals-against average.

Scouting Seton Hall

The Pirate's leaders in points include Sarah Cortes (3), Amanda Gulli (3) and Jackie Saint John (2). Seton Hall goalkeeper Illisa Blackshear has played seven of nine games recording 31 saves and three shutouts. Gina Maiorana has also spent time in net. Maiorana played four games recording nine saves and one shutout.

The Blue Devil's top-scorers are Abby Reed (16), Elise Wyatt (15) and Alexa Ben (12). In net, Alejandria Godinez has played seven of nine games recording 20 saves and one shutout for a 0.84 goals-against average.
