Providence is led by sophomore Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.), who is averaging 2.85 kills per set. Junior Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) has recorded 8.11 assists per set, which ranks seventh in the BIG EAST. Sophomore Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) has registered 5.12 digs per set and 0.32 services aces per set. Cruz leads the BIG EAST in digs and ranks fourth in service aces.
On Wednesday, the Friars lost to Seton Hall, 3-0, in their first BIG EAST match of the season. Freshman Abbie Trzeciak (Cranberry Township, Pa.) led the Friars with 11 kills in the contest.
MARQUETTE (9-3, 0-0): The Golden Eagles enter Friday's match-up with a five-game winning streak. The contest will be the first BIG EAST match for Marquette. Marquette placed second in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll and received four first-place votes. Autum Bailey leads the team with 3.64 kills per set. Gabby Benda has a team-best 6.20 assists per set while Lauren Houg has a team-best 4.36 digs per set.
DE PAUL (2-10, 0-0): The Blue Demons will play their first BIG EAST match of the season on Friday, against St. John's. Saige Gallop ranks first on the team with 3.33 kills per set. Colleen Smith has a team-high 7.74 assists per set while Lexi Chanos leads the defense, averaging 2.82 digs per set.
Following the weekend matches, the Friars go back on the road to compete against Villanova on Tuesday, Sept. 30, for a 6:00 p.m. start time.
