PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's soccer team defeated Seton Hall, 1-0, on Oct. 25 in South Orange, N.J. With the win, the Friars improved to 12-6 (5-3 BIG EAST), while the Pirates moved to 2-13-2 (1-7 BIG EAST).
Today's win set the Friars' record for most wins in a single-season (12). In 1991, the program posted 11 victories, and finished the year with an 11-5 record.
The first half ended scoreless, with Providence holding the advantage in shots (8-3).
In the 54th minute, freshman Casey Estey (Kensington, N.H) scored her fourth goal of the season. Junior Rachel Ugolik (Hamden, Conn.) recorded the assist on Estey's goal.
For the game, Providence goalkeeper Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) made three saves, while Seton Hall goalkeeper Laura Dramis made six saves. With the win versus Seton Hall, Shea recorded her seventh shutout of the season.
The Friars will return to action for the final game of the regular season versus St. John's at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the Ray Treacy Track and Field Complex in Providence, R.I.
