PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's volleyball team was defeated by Butler, 3-1, on Friday, Oct. 30 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The Friars took the first set 25-22, but could not hold on for a win. Butler claimed the next three sets, 25 -15, 25-22 and 25-18. The Friars record falls to 10-16 (1-11 BIG EAST) and the Bulldogs improve to 8-16 (4-7 BIG EAST).
The Friars were led on attack by freshman Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.), who tallied 12 kills. Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) recorded a double-double, with 10 kills and 11 digs.
Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) headed the Friars' defense with 16 digs and also added 35 assists.
Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) posted 14 digs and Marina Rose (Coventry, Conn.) added 12 digs.
The Friars are back in action against BIG EAST foe Xavier at 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 31 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I.
