Cincinnati, Ohio- The Providence College Volleyball team lost in straight sets, (7-25) (15-25) (24-26), to the Xavier Musketeers on Oct. 1. The Friars fall to a record of 12-8 (0-4) while Xavier moves up to an 8-9 (2-2) record.
The Friars' attack was led by Megan Onyundo (Woodbridge, Va.) and Cayla Veverka (Collegeville, Pa.). Both recorded six kills in the loss. Defensive specialist Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) led the Friars defensively with 16 digs. Kara Mason (Boca Raton, Fla.) also had a solid match, recording 12 kills for Providence.
Abbey Bessler led Xavier's attack with nine kills and Meredith Klare had 17 digs to lead the Musketeers' defensive efforts.
The Friars return to action on Oct. 7 for a match against Georgetown.
