PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Friars defeated Creighton University in overtime on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Chapey Field as Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I, 1-0. The Friars improved to 10-4-2 overall and 4-1-1 in BIG EAST play. The Bluejays moved to 8-4-2 on the season and 3-3-0 in the BIG EAST.
At the half, the scored remained even at 0-0. The Friars recorded five shots to the Bluejays one. Creighton's Lauren Sullivan recorded the lone shot for the Bluejays in the 42nd minute of play. Senior goalkeeper Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) posted zero saves to Creighton's goalkeeper Mckenzie Meola's one.
After 90 minutes, the game remained scoreless. The Friars recorded eight shots on the game to Creighton's five. Shea posted two saves in the second half to Meola's zero.
The Friars defeated the Bluejays in the 99th minute when graduate student Kathryn Hiller (Dartmouth, Mass.) notched her seven goal of the season.
The Friars will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 20 against DePaul in Chicago, Ill at 4:00 p.m.
