Women's Hockey To Play Maine and Merrimack

FOR STARTERS...

  • Providence will resume Hockey East play against Maine and Merrimack.
  • The Friars will host the Black Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Schneider Arena.
  • On Oct. 29 the Friars will travel to North Andover, Mass. to take on the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. at Lawler Rink.

Scouting the Friars...

  • The Friars enter Friday's game after playing seven non-conference games in October.
  • The Friars hosted the now-ranked No. 9 Princeton Tigers on Oct. 22 and 23, falling in both games, 4-2 and 7-3 respectivley.
  • The games against the Tigers were the first and second games that the Friars have been outshot so far this season.
  • In the Friars' previous three games, 14 different players registered at least one point.
  • Nine Friars tallied multiple points in the last week's games, led by Christina Putigna who registered five points with two goals and three assists.
  • Madison Sansone added three points with one goal and two assists.
  • Brooke Boquist and Cassidy Carels each notched two goals.
  • Blair Parent and Kate Friesen both notched one goal and one assist.
  • Danielle Hardy, Whitney Dove, and Avery Fransoo all added two assists to their point totals.
  • Kathleen McHugh recorded her first collegiate point, assisting Friesen's goal on Oct. 23 against Princeton.
  • Both Carels goals came on the power play and Friesen added Providence's second shorthanded tally of the year.
  • Alanna Serviss played in goal for the Friars' three games last week, skating to a 1-2-0 record. Serviss made 81 saves for an .871 save percentage and 4.01 goals against average.

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS...

  • The Black Bears travel to Providence, R.I. with a 2-6-0 overall record and 1-3-0 Hockey East record.
  • Maine's most memorable win came on Oct. 15, defeating No. 5 Boston College, 3-2.
  • The Black Bears are led by Freshman Tereza Vanisova, with seven points on four goals and three assists.
  • Freshman Vendula Pribylova is second in points, with one goal and four assists.
  • Both Maine goalies have seen action this season, Carly Jackson has seen the most time (367:45 mins) with a 1-5-1 record and .911 save percentage and 2.77 goals against average.
  • Maine currently holds a 11.8 power play percentage (4/34) and 75 % success rate on the penalty kill (34/74).

SCOUTING THE Warriors...

  • Merrimack has jumped out to a 3-4-1 overall record and 1-1-0 in Hockey East play.
  • Merrimack notched an overtime victory and a tie in a home series with Robert Morris, winning on Oct. 22 (4-3 ot) and tying on Oct. 23 (3-3).
  • Katelyn Rae leads the Warriors with nine points on eight goals and one assist, including four power play tallys.
  • Freshman Mikyla Grant-Mentis follows Rae with seven points on two goals and five assists.
  • Sixteen Warriors have registered at least one point so far this season.
  • Lea-Kristine Demers has spent 85.7% of time in net, posting a .899 save percentage and a 3.30 goals against average.
  • Samantha Ridgewell played in the Warriors' last game, posting a .903 save percentage and 2.77 goals against average. Ridgewell was also a selection to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team in the 2015-16 season.
  • Merrimack boasts a 23.5% success rate on the power play (8/34) and a 75.6% success rate on the penalty kill (39/75).
