Aug. 27, 2016 Final Stats
SAN JOSE, CALIF. - The Providence College volleyball team defeated the UMass Lowell Riverhawks, 3-0, on Aug. 27, at the San Jose State Tournament. This was Providence's second win of the tournament as it defeated Manhattan earlier in the day.
Kayla Fitzgerald (Redland, Calif.) led the attack for the Friars, and finished the match with 12 kills and five service aces.
Megan Onyundo (Woodbridge, Va.) was another important part of Providence's attack as she recorded 10 kills in the victory.
Chicyia Clark (Huntington Beach, Calif.) had a strong game in the setter role, recording 33 assists.
Defensive specialist
Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) recorded 10 digs for the Friars.
UMass Lowell was led by Katherine Claybaugh recorded 13 kills and Alex Toth recorded 19 assists for the Riverhawks.
The Friars return to action at the Lafayette/Lehigh Tournament on Sept. 2-3. Providence will play Saint Peter's, Lehigh, Lafa
yette and Fairleigh Dickinson in the tournament.
