PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team fell to Butler University, 2-1, on Sunday, Oct. 1 at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. in double-overtime. The Bulldogs netted the game winner in the 109th minute of play.

Prior to today's match, Butler had held opponents scoreless for 880 minutes before the Friars netted a goal on the Bulldogs in the 74th minute.

The Friars move to 1-2-0 in the BIG EAST and post a 6-6-0 mark overall. The team looks forward toward St. John's on Thursday, Oct. 5 in Providence, R.I.

- Butler took an early lead over the Friars in the 13th minute on an impressive attack effort by
Paige Monaghan to beat the Providence defensive effort.
- Camille Murphy (Seattle, Wash.) tested Butler's goalkeeper Hannah Luedtke with three shots on
the half for the Friars.
- The Friars led in shots on the half (5-4) and corners (2-0).
2ndHalf
- Annika Schmidt put in an impressive defensive performance for Butler to block numerous shots
by the Friars' attack in second half.
- Hailee Duserick (Canton, Mass.) had an opportunity to knot the score in the 70th minute on a
well executed corner kick play from Kayla Steeves (Neeham, Mass.)

- Katie Day (East Kingston, N.H.) put the Friars on the board in the 74th minute to even the score
(1-1).
OT
- The Bulldogs and Friars remained even throughout the first overtime period. Butler led in shots
3-0 in the first 10 minute interval.
- Butler claimed the BIG EAST win in the 109th minute when freshman Caitlyn Disarcina netted a
goal past Hogan.

HOW THEY SCORED
(12:23): Monaghan beat the Friars midfield line on a 1v1 duel to finish an upper right hand corner shot 20 yards out.
(108:24): Disarcina finished a cross from Monaghan from the left hand side of the field on the 6-yard box to claim the overtime victory.
