OMAHA, NEB. - The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by the Creighton Bluejays on Thursday night [Oct, 26] in Omaha, Neb. The Friars conclude regular season action 10-7-1 overall (5-3-1 BIG EAST) and earned a No. 3 seed entering BIG EAST Tournament play.

BIG EAST TOURNAMENT

Providence enters the BIG EAST Tournament as the No. 3 seed. The team will host a First Round contest on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2:00 p.m. against the No. 6 seeded DePaul Blue Demons. The winner of the first round game will travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to play the No. 2 seeded Butler University.

The BIG EAST Tournament will be broadcast live by the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via FOX Sports Go.
Marquette, who earned the No. 4 seed, will face No. 5 Xavier in the other First Round BIG EAST game. The winner of that match will play the No. 1 seeded Georgetown.

GAME FLOW & NOTES

- Casey Estey (Kensington, N.H.) struck first to put the Friars on the board and lift the team to a 1-0 lead in the 24thminute. Estey's shot was deflected into the goal by a Creighton defender.
- Bluejay Taryn Jakubowski struck back in the 28thminute to knot the score, 1-1 on a strike from 20-yards out past Friar goalkeeper Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.)
- The Bluejays led the Friars in shots during the first 45 minutes of action, 11-8.


2ndHalf
- Providence goalkeeper Makayla Brady (West Greenwich, R.I.) made her career debut in the second half of play and recorded three saves.
- Amber Birchwell (Mastic, N.Y) led the Friars with five shots, including two on frame.
- Jakubowski netted her second tally of night on top of the six-yard box on a cross from Haylee Blach to give the Bluejays a 2-1 lead at the 79 minute mark.
